Don’t you love it when God shows you something plain as day? Earlier this week, I was thinking, “What in the world am I going to write for my Sacred Studio devotional?” And then, out of the clear blue, I opened my Facebook feed. And there was this on my “Facebook memories”…. (You know they pull a post or pic from your past and make you think about it again).
My failing memory didn’t exactly remember this quote, where it came from or even why I felt inclined to post it. What struck me was that is said 7 years ago. Hmmm, seven years ago was 2012. I posted this little jewel about one year and two months before I was diagnosed with breast cancer after my first ever mammogram. WOW! Now read that again. Everything HE places in your life, HE can use for HIS glory in a later season.
Guess what? He did just that. He used my breast cancer story to show me that He is a God of details. He used my breast cancer story to show me the body of Christ, us as believers, ministering to one another is a beautiful picture of grace. He showed me the beauty and peace of surrender. He used my journey absolutely, one hundred percent for good. For His good and mine. Was cancer good? No. Was it fun? No. Was God good through it? Yes. Has He opened doors because of it? Yes.
I was asked by Ingram and Anna to share my story last year at Sacred Studio and although nervous, it was such a blessing. Just from that opportunity, I have had other chances to share, both in public settings and one on one with others who have discovered the same diagnosis.
So, what are you facing right now that doesn’t seem to have a lot of good in it? Marriage troubles, in-law frustrations, work burn out or simply worrying about your children or if you will marry? Can I tell you to give it to God? Will you trust me that if you lay it at His feet in daily surrender, He WILL show up? Trust when the bible says, “…We know that all things work together for good according to His riches in glory” (Romans 8:28). Will it always be easy? No. But will He use for His good and glory if you give it to Him? Absolutely.
“These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” 1 Peter 1:7
